Our last day in New York and we saved the best for last. Nothing screams
U.S.A. louder than the Statue of Liberty.

We were supposed to visit Lady Liberty with the hopes of going up the crown. We waited in vain for our
White House tour confirmation that never was before we booked our Liberty tickets and we ran out of Crown access tickets. The next best thing was the Pedestal access but that too ran out. There was still a chance to at least reach the Pedestal but for that we needed to go to New Jersey.

Our NYC Pass offers a Statue of Liberty option but it only covers the ferry ride. To access the Pedestal or the Crown, you need to book tickets at
statuecruises.com. There are two ways to reach the Statue of Liberty, from New York Battery Park or from Liberty State Park in New Jersey. Ten days before our planned visit, only the 11AM Pedestal access was available and it was in New Jersey but we had no choice but to book it.
We just need to figure out how to get to New Jersey.
With a little tripadvisor readings, we found a possible route to Liberty State Park via water taxi. We checked the schedule of Liberty Landing Ferry and we planned our trip accordingly. But not all plans are realized and waking up late didn't help. We booked a Lyft instead.

I guess I pressed the wrong buttons and ended up with the Lyft driver dropping us off at the Liberty Park Station of the Hudson-bergen Light Rail, a good two kilometers away from the Statue cruises ticket office.
Good thing the weather was fine and the wife didn't have access to any sharp object because the walk was long. Too long.

After 30 minutes of walking, we finally reached our destination.
Whew, no blood spilled.

It was cool to see that the Statue Cruises office was the site of the old Central Railroad of New Jersey Terminal.

By 10:45AM we were already on board the Ferry.

The first stop was Ellis Island. We didn't bother to go down thinking we won't enjoy it as much.
We changed our minds later in the day.

After a few minutes waiting on the ferry, we headed to
Liberty Island.
